02.24.066th, 7th, and 8th grades, representing six different countries, wrote resolutions for the Model United Nations. This was the epic last week of Model United Nations resolution writing. McGuffey's six delegations have produced thoroughly researched and persuasive resolutions on myriad topics. Argentina seeks to reduce various forms of child abuse around the world and raise awareness about the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Guinea-Bissau wants to lessen African reliance on pharmaceutical aid by improving regional infrastructure. Italy is faced with ongoing illegal immigration issues, and argues that this is really a humanitarian issue that the United Nations should help to resolve. Kiribati has very specific plans to deal directly with the rampant pollution problems around the world. Saudi Arabia offers the suggestion that an observer seat at the United Nations for Islam is only just and may help to quell increasing tensions among civilizations. Vietnam tackles global warming, insisting that the world faces an emergency of environmental change and at the very least the Kyoto Protocol should be enforced.
