Third and fourth graders took apart toasters, phones, VCRs, and other small machines to see how they work.
As part of our five week Simple Machine unit, the third and fourth graders were learning how things work. They created gears, pulleys, and wheels, and explored how these simple machines help change direction or speed, gear up, and gear down.
After five weeks of creating machines, students took apart machines
we use in our everyday lives to see what makes them
run. This is always a student favorite as they tear
apart everyday machines with screwdrivers, pliers, and other tools.
