Grades three through six spent three days and two nights at the Glen Helen Outdoor Education Center.
The Glen Helen Outdoor Education Center, in Yellow Springs, is part of Antioch University's Glen Helen Ecology Institute. They offer a range of environmental education programs, designed to foster a feeling of connection and stewardship toward the natural world through experiential learning. Through hands-on learning, understanding and connections to the natural world grow from a combination of outdoor activities, discussion, exploration, games and songs.
McGuffey students spent three days as trail groups exploring the Glen's nature preserve, taking geology hikes, doing stream studies, and participating in the raptor rehabilitation program. Not only are students learning about science and nature, but the are learning about cooperation, conservation, leadership, responsibility. In addition, it's a great opportunity to spread their own wings and spend a few days away from home!
