Kindergartners performed their social studies program three times for more than 100 people!

Last week at McGuffey the kindergarten presented a program to share what they've been doing in social studies this term. Guided by their teacher, Ashley Randall, they have studied communities in three different time periods and/or places - the Renaissance, early life on ships, and modern life.

Over the past three months they have used multiple sources to compare the ways each community filled their basic needs for food, shelter, clothing, order, defense, and education. In the production each student portrayed a person who provided or helped perform these essential services. They sang several songs, including one they wrote themselves, shared a poem they wrote in class, and displayed projects and posters they had made.

There were three performances - two dress rehearsals for several older groups including their seventh and eighth grade partners, and several parents who could not be present later, and an "official" early evening performance at 5:30 pm.
