Stock Market Game

The Fall Stock Market Game is over, and McGuffey teams did very well! In fact, our six teams had the highest school average of middle schools with six or more teams. Even though a Cincinnati Country Day team won our division, their thirty-one teams were no match overall for McGuffey. Four of our six teams finished in the black.

The team of Aaron, Zoe, Christina, and Aidan came in third in the ninety team Cincinnati-area middle school division and twelfth out of the 1,157 teams entered at all levels in the state of Ohio. They turned their $100,000 into $113,019.79. They finished with investments in Amazon for a gain of $8,545.34, Coca-Cola, profit of $1,047.84, Google, profit of $5,676.44, and Apple, a loss of $2,861.27. They sold additional holdings in Apple for a gain of $1,103/25 and Boeing for a loss of $284.91.

Their efforts will be rewarded in January when Kimberly Moon, University of Cincinnati Center for Economic Education coordinator, visits McGuffey to present checks to the members of the team and host a pizza party for fifth through eighth grade students.

The next game starts in February!
